The BBC news website, I felt was impressive in terms of its information architecture. The index on the left of the page has proved to be very helpful, as its splits information into subjects. Therefore making information quick and easy to access.

When it came to navigating the website, it was well organised so that all information could fit on one page without having to scroll down to far. If I wanted more information, it was put in links. The front page gave the most important information and good interesting pictures. It then gave the chance for the researcher to click for further facts and bigger pictures. The page also gave the chance to make links hidden or shown. The idea of being able to take information away from the front page to make it easier to read is clever. As in the long term it will make the viewer more willing to stay on the website, as it wont hurt their eyes and the page will seem more user friendly. It feels straightforward to be able to find your back when you have clicked on a link. The layout of each link is kept to the same simple structure, which makes the information easy to read.

Overall the useabilty is very good as the surfer is reassured that they will be able to gain information quickly, which is what makes the BBC news page seem so reliable and popular.
